This poster was produced by the publicity department of the Westinghouse Corporation just as WWII was ending to highlight the company’s roll in developing the Stratovision system which was an airborne television transmission relay system utilizing aircraft flying at high altitudes. The Stratovision system was designed to use a fleet of 14 dedicated aircraft to provide coverage for the nascent broadcast television medium to about 80% of the United States population. The Stratovision television system was never implemented but the technology was refined and used in different ways including for television propaganda purposes in the Vietnam War.
This poster has a Mid-Century Modern style design and the lower margin is printed “Bulletin No. 114 – Post September 17, 1945”.
This poster is a vintage original and shows a couple lateral crease lines and a notch off the upper left hand corner. The poster has two small punctures but nothing torn off of missing on these spots. Overall condition is good for this rare vintage original poster highlighting technology of the newly emerging broadcast television medium.
