Why reed is indispensable plant?
Some people calls it reed, some - cane, but both of those names mean the same plant.
It grows rapidly and is fully renewed within a year. If the plant is pruned annually, its density increases and the plant itself becomes stronger. Despite reed mostly consists of cellulose, its characteristics resembles bamboo.
Reed played crucial role in lives of our ancestors. It was used as biofuel, building material for roofs, walls, matts and hives. And today we present a new important function for reed.
We gather raw material in ecological area
Our raw source is based in Vylkove on Danube Delta marshlands - the biggest Delta in Europe - near the Ukrainian Danube Biosphere Reservation. The territory of the Reservation includes the islands upstream and Danube downstream, reedbeeds to north from Danube, Delta water bodies and adjacent area of the sea. The Danube Delta has one of the most unique and richest biodiversity in Europe.
Controlled reed pruning is carried out for environmental purposes and is also one of the industries of the local community.
