Retro Vintage Prewar Television 1929 Port Hole Style with 3" Screen

Functional retro early style television set hand crafted by me using rare parts from prewar radio cabinets and electronics from solid state black and white
television sets from the 1990's. This set is very similar in appearance to one of those very, very rare TV's from the late 1920's that sell for tens of thousands of dollars in today's market. The
original
version of this set did not have a picture tube as they had not been perfected yet.  At that time, a "scanning disc" was used and the image created was no larger than a few inches.  A magnifying lens was usually installed into the set to make the image larger.  In keeping with that theme, this set
has a 3" black and white screen with a built in magnifier. As this set does have a picture tube, this image is nice and clear. The set also features a nice loud speaker and all functional knobs, a beautiful refinished wood
veneered
cabinet, and  time period
appropriate
knobs and decals. The back is finished and also is consistent with the styling of the late 1920's sets (see last two photos).
Measurements ( approx): 16
" tall, 17" wide and 11.5" deep.  The set has been converted to a coaxial antenna
attachment
( 6 ft coaxial cable included) and can be attached directly to your cable box, most DVD/VCR players, or a laptop using a HDMI to coaxial port adapter. The scenes shown of President Hoover's speech are being transmitted from my laptop using one of these adapters.  As the set is analog, a
descambler
box would be necessary if using an aerial
antenna
. I now have HDMI to coaxial and RCA to coaxial
adapters
available in separate listings.
Original prewar television sets are extremely rare as very few were made.  Even fewer families could afford one and very little programming was available.  I make these sets because I have always been fascinated by the thought of television being available in the 1920's and 30's and what it must have been like to have had the rare opportunity to view one at home.  I want to share this fascination with others and give them the opportunity to have that experience as well.
