Description

Extremely rare museum quality functional reproduction of one of the earliest television sets known to exist incorporating a cathode ray tube (crt) for the picture screen circa 1930.  This one of a kind set measures  20" high, 26"  wide,  12 1/2" deep. It also boasts a seven inch diagonal B&W image. Coaxial and RCA type input are present on the back of the set (see pictures).
A seven inch screen was considered quite large in the early prewar era.  The tube was very expensive to produce and required a very high voltage transformer to generate an image.  This very high voltage in the days of cloth covered wires was a real fire hazard so that most early CRT tube sets produced in the US were 3 or 5 inches. This recreation has modern electronics so voltages levels to the tube are much lower.
Manufacturers
in England and Germany were braver and produced more of these larger screen high voltage sets.  A set very similar to this one is seen in Charlie's home (with his four grandparents in one bed in front of it) in the original Willy Wonka movie.
The set will be shipped FedEx ground, professionally double boxed and insured for the purchase price to anywhere in the continental United States for the shipping price shown.  If shipping to your area is less, a prompt refund for the shipping cost difference will be issued.
